Our tour begins at Graceland. Thirty-one years after his death, experience life as Elvis did at Graceland with an audio-guided tour featuring commentary and stories by Elvis and his daughter, Lisa Marie.
|
| Upon arrival via luxury motorcoaches at the Ticket Pavilion, your guests will be shuttled to the entrance of Graceland. The journey through the Mansion includes the decorated funky styles of the Jungle Room, Racquetball Court, and Meditation Garden, where Elvis rests. |
| After the Mansion tour, your guests will visit the Automobile Museum and see over 33 vehicles owned by Elvis, including the famous Pink Cadillac. Adjacent to the Automobile Museum are his Custom Jets, where your tour begins in an airport terminal and then board the Lisa Marie, customized by Elvis. Along with a large assortment of gift shops in the Ticket Pavilion, two fairly new exhibits are open. “Sincerely Elvis” will take you on a 12-month journey through the milestones of what was one of the significant years of Elvis’s career – the year 1956. “Elvis After Dark” is a fascinating look into Elvis’s life after the sun went down. |
|
Next it is time for a late lunch at Rum Boogie Café. Rum Boogie is the place for
southern hospitality in a casual atmosphere that includes over 200 autographed
guitars from some of the greatest performers in the music and entertainment
industry as well as Memphis’ most prized music memorabilia including the original
STAX sign that adorned the STAX recording studio, the cape Isaac Hayes wore
when he won his Academy Award for “Theme from Shaft”, and the mirror from
Charlie Rich’s Steinway piano.
This unique restaurant and bar established in 1985, became the cornerstone of
the entertainment district on Historic Beale Street and Highway 61. |
Seated lunch will consist of:
Appetizer: Fried Green Tomatoes
Entree: BBQ Sandwich your choice of Pulled Pork or BBQ Chicken
French Fries
Fruit Cobbler
Ice Tea or Soda |
After lunch our last stop of the day will be The Memphis Rock ‘n’ Soul Museum. The Memphis Rock
‘n’ Soul Museum’s exhibition about the birth of rock and soul music, created by the Smithsonian
Institution, tells the story of musical pioneers who, for the love of music, overcame racial and
socio-economic barriers to create the music that shook the entire world.
Located at 191 Beale, on the corner of legendary Highway 61 at the FedExForum Sports and
Entertainment Complex, the museum offers a comprehensive Memphis music experience from the
rural field hollers and sharecroppers of the 1930s, through the explosion of Sun, Stax
and Hi Records
and Memphis’ musical heyday in the 70s, to its global musical influence. The guided tour will take visitors
through seven galleries featuring more than 30 instruments, 40 costumes and other musical treasures. |
