Rep. Cindy Axne to Receive Friend of Farm Credit Award

AgriBank District Farm Credit Council honors Iowa congresswoman

U.S. Rep. Cindy Axne

ST. PAUL, Minn., December 30, 2021 – The AgriBank District Farm Credit Council (ADFCC) has selected U.S. Rep. Cindy Axne of Iowa to receive its 2021 Friend of Farm Credit Award. Axne, a member of the House Agriculture Committee, will receive the award for her important work on behalf of rural communities, agriculture and the Farm Credit System, a national network of customer-owned cooperatives.

“We appreciate Rep. Axne’s strong support for biofuels, her focus on rural infrastructure and the work she does to ensure that farm families have a voice as tax changes are considered,” said Steve Henry, a farmer from Nevada, Iowa, who is the Farm Credit Services of America board representative at the ADFCC. “Her focus on issues critical to agriculture and rural communities sets her apart as an important voice for rural interests.”

“From making sure farmers and small businesses are protected from any changes to stepped-up basis to ensuring we’re investing in homegrown clean energy solutions such as biofuels, I’ve made it a priority to champion the needs of our rural communities in Congress,” Axne said. “Our farmers and rural communities are critical to the success of our nation and cannot be overlooked. I’ve fought to secure disaster relief for our producers who were affected by the 2020 derecho, ensure rural loan recipients receive the same COVID aid as other loan types did last year, and expand broadband access to all communities. I’m proud to receive 2021 Friend of Farm Credit award and will continue to do all that I can to advocate on behalf of my rural constituents.”

Farm Credit Services of America is one of 14 Farm Credit Associations that comprise the AgriBank District along with AgriBank. The ADFCC represents Farm Credit farmers and ranchers in a 15-state area from Wyoming to Ohio and Minnesota to Arkansas. About half the nation’s cropland is located within the AgriBank District.

Farm Credit supports rural communities and agriculture with reliable, consistent credit and financial services, today and tomorrow. It has been fulfilling its mission of helping rural America grow and thrive for more than a century with the capital necessary to make businesses successful and by financing vital infrastructure and communication services.
